Dr. Johnson:
James R. Johnson, MD is the owner and operator of South Shores Medical Group. His primary goal is to promote excellence in health for people from all walks of life.
Dr Johnson conducted his undergraduate work at the University of Southern California where, shunning the more traditional pre-med tracks of biology or chemistry, he elected to pursue a broader educational background in the study of English Literature. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1985.
Dr Johnson attended medical school at St Louis University from 1985 to 1989. Although achieving high honors in anatomy and enjoying surgical rotations, he was eventually drawn to family medicine and the broad perspective of the human experience it affords.
He graduated from the highly respected Kaiser Fontana Family Medicine residency program in 1992 and was voted resident of the year by his peers. He is board certified in Family Medicine.
Dr. Johnson worked for a large medical group until 2001 when he opened his own practice in San Clemente, California. He enjoys getting to know his patients and is interested in the impact of life experiences on the health and well-being of his patients.
South Shores Medical Group supplies physicians to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the Department of Mental Health. The mission is to provide high quality physicians and excellent service to the state while also providing excellent opportunities for doctors.
